Animal Welfare Coalition of Alberta
Promoting a professional and collaborative animal welfare industry and responsible pet guardianship.
The Animal Welfare Coalition of Alberta (AWC) was founded in 2016 and recently revived in 2021 by 22 like-minded charitable animal welfare organizations working together to improve animal welfare in Alberta.
The care and adoption of companion animals is not regulated in Alberta or Canada. Together the AWC members have signed and agreed to uphold a minimum standard for animal care, governance, adoption, volunteer/foster management and a code of conduct. This was the foundation from which we could then work towards our common goals to improve animal welfare in Alberta.
